I am really nervous before the interview. Its not because of the topic or other competitors, but Putonghua. Luckily, English can be used in the discussion. Thx God! I expect the topic should somehow be different from the usual/ hot topic. The questions i have prepared is like why u choose Tsinghua U, what you feel about Beijing etc. However, the topic is "What is the impact of Olympic Game on China?"
For content, its as easy as ABC. But confidence, communication skill, language accuracy are the most important assessment critera.
Result will be announced at early March.
I feel that i can make another group of best friend in the phychology class. This is an experimental class, namely that we have many "games" to play. We also have a deep chat with each other, and have an agreement not to disclose anything to other people. Good place to release pressure and have a big laugh.
Teaching A.L. Economics is a difficult job so that i have spent some time preparing the topic. And i feel good when i can explain the concepts and link them with each other. I speak slower and write more and draw more graphs this time. But he should be trained to understand what i mean without a graph. Teaching is like chatting.
wow ~ so tired today ! I got up at 7 a.m. and finished the lessons at 6.30 p.m.. On Monday and Thrusday, I have 5 hrs of free time. You can usually find me at SEMI-CLOSED Library. It is my study paradise.
Today is the second S.I. class. It is very hea. I dont want to be like that. Maybe I will go through the powerpoint with them. I have 8 students attending my two classes now. Can it be fewer ? Then, my workload can be reduced.
Play badminton with churchmates tonight till 10.00pm. Exhausted ! It is my first time dont want to go there. You know i love badminton. It is joyful.
I will have the second interview for the Tsinghua University. There are 27 candidates competing for the places. Up to now, I dont know the format of the interview. May someone help me ? Hope that we can have a nice discussion.
Wow !! We have a very great sharing yesterday night. Ghost, mysterious stuff...... I love them !!!!!!!! Although we didnt watch that movie, this one had already frightened me. I feel "cold" after understanding why the man vomit. OOO my God !!!!!!!!

Enlarging the national saving is the right way for the U.S. to correct the large trade deficit. This can be done by increasing either government's saving or private saving. The U.S. economy was driven by its domestic consumption in the past. Consumers do not save and pay for goods by credit. Any trade protection policy will always lower the amount of trade but not improve the trade balance as the real exchange rate is pushed up. Also, it is nothing related to RMB's revaluation. China's labour force is a huge amount. That's why the wage rate can keep at low enough level. Given this fact, it is difficult to measure the proper amount of revaluation so that the Chinese people can have sufficient purchasing power to buy the U.S. goods.
I feel very nervous before the interview afraiding some topic that i never heard may be asked. But finally, God listens to me. I am familiar with the topic and i think my performance is okay.
We discuss the effect of rising oil price. I saw the reaction of the other interviewees, they all shock. So, i start with very brief ideas from Microeconomics. I add a new idea of Environment protection. The interviewers must think that i am from Green Power.
Everything is alright. And i think i can go to 2nd round interview. One more point i want to make (but the time is up ) is that the slowing down of world economic development due to high oil price. It is really a challenging issue if my partners are able to discuss it.
Finally something academic excited me this year. Although i havent involved in yesterday's discussion, i was paying full attention to the points making by both sides.
He is a supply side economist, meaning he supports the idea of suppy creates its own demand. For a economy to develop heathly, first thing is to build up its foundation and investors will come and spend money on it afterwards. The point he is making is to "Develop first, Clean later".
Few exchange and local students react to this statement. The arguments are not strong enough. They obviously lack evidence to support thier thoughts.
As one of my tutor said, just write HIS opinions in the exam is okay. Such a discussion is meaningless i think.

Few thoughts related to the discussion
- China is probably the largest or second largest coal consuming country. This is the result of industrialization. Western countries had also undergo this process and certainly damaged the environment. If they have the right to industrialize, why don't China do not? The introduction of new, environmental friendly techology need money. Where is the money come from? Technology starts from the low level one.
- More welfare policies are needed. I dont think so. Minimum wage leads to unemployment. Those employed earn a higher wage at the expense of the unemployed. Labour Union, if strong enough, always lead to economic loss in terms of output. China always want to copy welfare policies from the western world. This is certainly bad. Many communist countries fail to carry out "capitalism" which are written as a "golden rule to success". Now in China, another labor law, i don't know the English name, is driving investors out of China to Vietnam or other cheap- labor countries. It is just a step further, the policy can kill China itself. Fortuately, they are not smart enough.
- Wealth Maximation is the central idea of economics. Wealth includes many things besides money. However, money is the easiest way for economic modeling. I am a wealth maximizer, I would put "Clean first" in a higher priority if i am the situation of extreme case. The Earth is everyone's wealth.
